Realm of Revenants
A co-op RPG you host for your friends, in a world that remembers what you did there.
In development at Quinci Games.
One world, hosted by one of you
Realm of Revenants is an RPG that one of you hosts and the rest of you join. Between fights it plays like an open world: you explore, talk to the people who live there, mine, craft and gear up. When a fight starts, the game moves into turn-based battles fought in rows. When it ends, you collect your rewards and walk back out into the world.
What sets it apart is what that world does with your choices.
The world remembers
An MMO has to stay the same for everyone who logs in, so its bosses respawn, its quests repeat and its factions never fall. A Realm of Revenants world belongs to one group of friends, so it doesn't have to reset.
Help one faction and the other can lose for good. Kill a boss and it can stay dead. Leave a village undefended and it can burn. Whatever happens is written into that world, and only that world.
- The faction that won
- The boss that stayed dead
- The village nobody saved
- The dock that opened
The world moves first
Not every consequence starts with a quest. Events begin on their own: a village comes under attack, word reaches the realm, and there is a deadline to answer it.
The clock runs while you play
Deadlines count world time, and world time only passes while the world is hosted. A week away from the game will not cost you a village you never saw attacked.
Permanent is announced
When a step cannot be undone, the game tells you before you take it. Whoever completes that step makes the decision for everyone in the world.
Some damage can be repaired
Rebuilding a scarred village is a job of its own, and the whole group can pitch in on it. Other marks are there for good.
Host your own world
One player hosts and their friends join. Each world is its own save with its own history, so two groups playing the same game end up living in different worlds.
There is no central server to keep alive. A world lives with the person who hosts it, and it picks up where it left off the next time they open it.
Curious how the other side of a decision plays out? Start a new world and take the other road.
Between fights, and during them
Out in the world
Walk the islands, meet the people who live on them and take on their quests. Mine, craft what you need and build up your gear. The world keeps running while you do it, for everyone in it.
When a fight starts
The game switches to a battlefield where both sides line up in rows and take turns. You fight with a team of revenants, and where each one stands matters. Win, and a reward screen sends you back into the world with what you earned.
In development
Realm of Revenants is being built by one developer at Quinci Games.
The work right now is technical foundations, followed by a full visual overhaul. That's why there are no screenshots here yet: today's art is placeholder. There is no public build, release date or price.
